"Nephilim are usually the hybrid children between angels and humans. They have souls but are endowed with the strength and power of an angel. On paper it sounds epic, especially in a poem. But in real life? Not so much. Especially since Father had to press the reset button on the entire world in order to get rid of them and clean up their mess.
Gabriel about the Nephilim

The Nephilim are the offspring between angels and another race other than demons, most often humans. Most of the Nephilim were born prior to the Great Flood but some were sired after it.

Overview[]

Out of all the enigmatic creatures described in the Bible and other scriptures, the Nephilim are undoubtedly the main topic of debate among scholars. Their name, Nephilim, can be translated as "Giants" or "Fallen Ones". The primarily account of the Nephilim takes place in the sixth chapter of Genesis, which called them the children of the sons of God who lusted after human women.

Another interpretation of the Nephilim offers a less supernatural perspective claims that they are men who turned away from divine justice. Some argue that the term, 'son of God', refers to the descendants of Seth, the righteous son of Adam. According to this theory, the daughters of the men adopted by fallen angels were the wicked women in the lineage of Cain.

Description[]

The Nephilim were giants, cruel tyrants who were called the mighty ones of old. Due to being impure, they represent the evil that needs to be purged from the Earth. The Bible clarifies that one of the main purposes of the Great Flood was to destroy the descendants of the Nephilim so their bloodline will not corrupt that of the surviving humans.

However, in reality, God loves the Nephilim like the rest of his creations. Those who did not take part in violence were spared and allowed to settle in various regions of the Earth.

History[]

Creation[]

The Nephilim were created when the Watchers, 200 angels assigned to watch over the human race, mated with human women and produced offspring.

The children from the union between mortals and celestial beings were giants who stood over 4000 feet tall. The majority of them became savage beings, whom men could not control. Eventually, the Nephilim turned against humanity and roamed the Earth, pillaging and destroying indiscriminately.

However, not all Nephilim were like that. Some managed to resist the madness that consumed the rest of their brethren, though they chose not to intervene.

Great Flood[]

The Watchers' actions did not come unnoticed. The Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel looked down upon Earth and witnessed the unrighteous and sacrilegious behavior taking place and decided that they must act.

Gabriel was sent to destroy the Nephilim and he did so by inciting them to turn against one another. However, he spared those who did not take part in the destruction. The remaining Nephilim managed to survive and once the flood waters resided, they dispersed and settled in different parts of the world.

Aftermath[]

When the Israelites were preparing to enter Canaan, Moses sent 12 spies to explore the country. 2 of them, Joshua and Caleb, encountered giant humans, who were the descendants of the surviving Nephilim.

Joshua drove the descendants of the Nephilim out of Canaan, but some managed to escape and sought refuge in Gaza, Ashdod, and Gath.

Goliath was believed to have been a descendant of the Nephilim, before it was realized that he was simply an exceptionally tall human.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Nephilim possess all the standard powers and abilities of angels. Similar to Nephalem and Cambion, their power levels are influenced by the strength of their angelic lineage, with all of them surpassing their celestial parents in power.

Weaknesses[]

Nephilim possess all the standard weaknesses inherent in angels.
